Long the second-poorest country in continental America , nursing and the roles of women are key to improving life and making health services more efficient and effective. Several eras of modeling of primary health care services and Ministry of Health leadership have occurred in Nicaragua . We have been involved in analysis of these various eras, and have been asked to assist in designing the roles and strategies for nursing development in the current national health planning process.
