Presentations

  • Tonda Hughes presented From Gay Bars to Marriage Equality: Building a Research Career Focused on a Stigmatized and Marginalized Population” at the Dean’s Diversity Lecture at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee. Hughes also presented “Alcohol Use Among Sexual Minority Women: Key Findings from a 20-Year Longitudinal Cohort Study” at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Escuela de Enfermería, in Santiago, Chile. She was the keynote speaker for the Advancing Excellence in Health Care for Sexual and Gender Minorities National Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, with an address titled, “Advancing Health Equity for LGBTQ People.
  • Cindy Veldhuis presented “Stress and Problematic Alcohol Use in Sexual and Gender Minority Women’s Relationships” at the Substance Use Epidemiology Seminar at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, in New York.

Awards and Honors

  • Gregory Alexander was awarded the HIMSS-ANI Nursing Informatics Leadership Award by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and Alliance for Nursing Informatics.
  • Jennifer Dohrn ’85 ’05 received the Nurses with Global Impact Award from Nurses with Global Impact, Inc.
  • Tess Sky was honored with the Rising Star/Unsung Hero award for her exemplary contributions to the ColumbiaDoctors Nurse Practitioner Group by the Patient Safety Recognition Program.
  • Jacquelyn Taylor was inducted into the 2020 Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame by Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
