Caceres Chosen as AAN Fellow at the NAM

Billy Caceres, PhD, an associate professor at Columbia Nursing and executive director of the Center for Sexual and Gender Minority Health Research, has been named the 2026-2028 American Academy of Nursing Fellow at the National Academy of Medicine.

Established in 2022, the AAN Fellowship at the NAM allows AAN fellows to participate in evidence-based public health studies that improve patient care and access to care in domestic and global health care systems. Caceres, inducted as an AAN fellow in 2020, studies biobehavioral approaches to identify and address psychosocial stressors that influence cardiovascular and sleep health across the lifespan.

“Dr. Caceres is an esteemed and highly regarded expert in cardiovascular health. His selection, among the competitive pool of candidates, reflects the vital intersection his work represents, scientific excellence and national policy impact,” AAN President Debra J. Barksdale said in an August 6 press release. “Dr. Caceres will bring a crucial nursing voice and health equity perspective to national conversations aimed at improving care and health outcomes for all."
