Grants

Columbia Nursing received $150,000 from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to support two “Future of Nursing” scholars in completing their PhD in nursing in three years.

Columbia Nursing received $55,000 from the Ladies Christian Union Foundation to provide students with housing assistance.

 

Publications 

Ruth Masterson Creber, PhD, postdoctoral research fellow, was the lead author of “Motivational Interviewing Tailored Interventions for Heart Failure (MITI-HF): Study Design and Methods,” published in Contempory Clinical Trials.

 

Stephen Ferrara, DNP, associate dean of clinical affairs, authored “Message From the Executive Director,” published in The Journal of The Nurse Practitioner Association NYS. He was an author of “Should Supervision be Required for Early-Career Nurse Practitioners?” published in The Journal for Nurse Practitioners. In addition, he authored two book chapters in Primary Care (2nd Edition): “Cumulative Trauma Disorder,” and “Low Back Pain.”

 

Sue Greenfield, PhD, RN, associate professor, and Cliff Roberson, DNP, director, Nurse Anesthesia program, authored “Autonomic Nervous System Drugs,” in Pharmacology for Nurses.

 

 

Kathleen Hickey, EdD, FNP, assistant professor, was an author of “Basic Concepts and Potential Applications of Genetics and Genomics for Cardiovascular and Stroke Clinicians: A Scientific Statement from the American Heart Association,” published in Circulation Cardiovascular Genetics.

 

Wanda Montalvo, PhD candidate, was the lead author of  “Mentorship in Developing Transformational Leaders to Advance Health Policy: Creating a Culture of Health,” published in Nurse Leader.

 

 

Pat Stone, PhD, RN, FAAN, Centennial Professor in Health Policy, was  an author of “Nurse Workforce Characteristics and Infection Risk in VA Community Living Centers: A Longitudinal Analysis,” published in Medical Care.

 

Presentations and Honors

The ETP faculty presented a day long workshop “The Art of Precepting” at Bard Hall featuring 70 attendees from area hospitals.

 

Ruth Masterson Creber, PhD, postdoctoral research fellow, presented Show Me the Money! Grant Writing for Emerging Scholars and Professionals," at the ESPO Professional Development Webinar Series sponsored by The Gerontological Society of America

 

Michelle Odlum, PhD, postdoctoral research fellow, was selected as a delegate to the59th session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations. 

 

Briefs

Karen Cowgill ’94, assistant professor, Seattle University College of Nursing, was named a 2014-15 Fulbright Scholar based in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

 

Kathleen Doherty ’77, co-authored Yoga and Grief: A Compassionate Journey Toward Healing.

 

Libby Hall, DNP, FNP, Director, Family Nurse Pracitioner Program, was featured on NewYork- Presbyterian’s Amazing People web site.

 

Krista Schroeder, PhD candidate, was accepted as a student member of the New York Academy of Medicine.
