Assistant Professor of Nursing, Kathleen T. Hickey has received a $1.1M 5-year multi-site grant funded by the NINR and NHLBI of the NIH.

Kathleen T. Hickey, EdD, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, Assistant Professor of Nursing, is subcontract Principal Investigator on "Home ECG Monitoring to Detect Allograft Rejection Following Heart Transplantation," a 5-year multi-site R01 newly funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the NIH. The overall goal of the project is to determine whether daily monitoring of the heart transplant recipient's electrocardiogram (ECG) using a simple home device with transmission to an ECG Core Laboratory would provide an early biomarker for acute transplant rejection.

This $1.1 million subcontract award supports activities at the Columbia University project site. Sally Aboelela, PhD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing, serves as a study Co-Investigator.
