Suzanne Bakken presented “Got Community? Reflections on the Relevance of Community Engagement in Equitable Health Informatics and Data Science Innovations,” the National Institutes of Health Donald A. B. Lindberg and Donald West King Lecture in Medical Informatics, on December 8, 2023, at NIH. 

Billy Caceres participated in a panel on “Community Engagement” at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Public Workshop on Enhancing Clinical Study Diversity, held virtually on November 30, 2023. 
 
Ashley Graham-Perel presented “The History of Lincoln School for Nurses” to the New York City Chapter of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses, virtually on November 6, 2023. 

Ana Kelly presented “Profile of HIV, TB, and COVID in a Malawian Prison” at the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care’s annual conference, held October 25-28, 2023, in New Orleans. 

Marlene McHugh, DNP ’08, presented “Chronic Pain” at Nursing Grand Rounds on November 17, 2023, at Montefiore Medical Center/Health System. 

Awards and Honors 

Veronica Barcelona was invited by the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine to join the Committee on Assessment of NIH Research on Women’s Health on November 17, 2023. The consensus committee will make recommendations on priorities for NIH-supported research on women’s health and maintain a robust women’s health research workforce, among other responsibilities. 

Billy Caceres was appointed for a one-year term to the American Heart Association New York City's inaugural Medical Advisory Committee on November 22, 2023. The committee works to accomplish the American Heart Association's clinical and community health goals across all NYC boroughs.  
  

Other News 

Gregory Alexander was appointed vice chair of the American Medical Informatics Association's Clinical Informatics Conference to be held May 21-23, 2024, in Minneapolis. 

The Alpha Zeta chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International collected over seven large bags of coats for the New York Cares coat drive. A big thank-you to all who contributed! 

Nia Josiah, DNP ’23, hosted an American Association of Colleges of Nursing webinar, “Tips and Tricks to Help Healthcare Providers Cope with Daily Stressors & Prevent Burnout,” on December 13, 2023. 

Nancy Reame was interviewed for a blog on menstrual health and tampon testing regulations posted on the website for Diva International, a manufacturer of menstrual cups.
