Meet Columbia Nursing’s 2025 Campbell Award Winner
Shermin Koh, MS ’23, has received the Campbell Award, given annually to a graduating student at each Columbia University school.
Established in 2016 by the Columbia Trustees and Columbia Alumni Association (CAA), the award recognizes exceptional leadership and Columbia spirit as exemplified by the late Bill Campbell ’62CC, ’64TC, chair emeritus, university trustee, and CAA co-founder.
Koh will graduate from the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program next week. During her time at Columbia Nursing, she served as president of Nursing Students for Mental Health and founded Asian Nursing Students at Columbia, working to expand culturally competent care and student advocacy. She was also a teaching assistant for the MDE cohort and a peer advocate with the Sexual Violence Response team.
At Commencement, Koh will also be honored with a Presidential Award for Outstanding Teaching. These prestigious awards have been presented annually since 1996 to five faculty and three graduate student instructors from throughout Columbia University. Koh is the first graduate student instructor from Columbia Nursing to receive the honor.
