Nurses Rank Number 1 for Honesty and Ethics in Gallup Poll of Professions

Strong ethics fostered in future nurses in nursing school

(NEW YORK, NY, Dec. 7, 2012) - More than two thirds of Americans say that nurses have "very high" or "high" honesty and ethical standards, a significantly greater percentage than the next-highest-rated professions, military officers and pharmacists, according to a national Gallup poll. In fact, this is the 11th year that nursing has topped the list.

Nursing schools including Columbia School of Nursing instill the seeds of a nurse's ethical attitude toward patients during their education. In fact, good ethics and good nursing are inseparable. A Columbia University School of Nursing faculty member is available to discuss why nurses' strong code of ethics make them the most trusted professional year after year.
