Hahn-Schroeder and Massie Headshots - Recipients of the AACN Elevating Leaders in Academic Nursing (ELAN) program

Two faculty named to AACN academic leadership program

Heidi Hahn-Schroeder, DNP, and Maribeth Massie, MS ’98, PhD, assistant professors at Columbia Nursing, have been selected for the 2022-2023 class of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Elevating Leaders in Academic Nursing (ELAN) program.

Hahn-Schroeder, who is assistant dean of Academic Affairs and directs the MDE program, and Massie, director of the Nurse Anesthesia Program, will join the fourth cohort of ELAN fellows.

According to the AACN, the one-year fellowship is tailored for “aspiring deans and senior faculty in leadership roles.” Launched in 2019 as a successor to AACN’s Leadership for Academic Nursing Program, which ran from 2002-2018, ELAN aims to strengthen nursing faculty leaders’ executive leadership skills. The program begins with a five-day leadership immersion experience, followed by virtual workshops, discussions, peer coaching, and access to a private online community of fellows.
