Overview

Aluem Tark, PhD, FNP-BC, RN, CHPN is an associate professor and the program director for the DNP-Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Columbia University. Tark's research interests encompass end-of-Life care, advance directives, palliative/hospice care, and the care of individuals living with advanced and/or life-threatening illnesses. Her clinical experience includes roles in hematology/oncology, palliative care, urgent/walk-in care, and telemedicine. 

Tark has received national recognition for her outstanding clinical work and significant contributions to the field of education. Her prestigious awards include the Educator of the Year award from the National League for Nursing, the State Award for Excellence from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Distinguished Educator in Gerontological Nursing Award from the National Hartford Center for Gerontological Nursing Excellence. 

In addition to her academic and clinical roles, Tark has served in various leadership positions, including as an Interim Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and as a Dean of Education Assessment and Outcomes.
