I am currently the` Clinical Nursing Instructor for the Masters Direct Entry (MDE) students for local & global clinical rotations skills training and practice. In collaboration with the Simulation participate in clinical simulation modules. Local community events includes participation in health promotion and outreach with established community organizations. Columbia students are actively involved in these programs. Working with Community Organizers and organizations in Harlem and Washington Heights introduces Columbia School of Nursing students the occasion to interact with all people in our diverse & vibrant community. Students are afforded the opportunity to become familiar with the historic and geographic richness of the neighborhoods. Through relationships cultivated with the development of a grass roots organization in Ethiopia - Girls2Women, the Global Initiative Team has established two clinical sites in Ethiopia where students complete their Clinical Integration. Other activities at CUSON include participation in the Green Committee, Co-Secretary of the Diversity Club, President of the Alpha Zeta Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau Honorary Society. Fun activities include assisting current students to meet & greet Alumni at the Annual reunion meeting dressed in the stripped uniforms of yore and coordinating the maintenance of the roof garden in the school of nursing. One amazing aspect of nursing is that the opportunities to get involved are endless, be it here in our neighborhood or any place in the whole wide world. "Knowledge is a powerful weapon to share with others. Go forth and teach".
