From ranking first in NIH funding among nursing schools for the second year in a row, Suzanne Bakken being named a Living Legend, and three DNP students being named NEF Scholars, we proudly share a selection of honors awarded this year.

Nursing School Tops in NIH Research Funding for FY 2023

With 38 awards totaling nearly $24 million, Columbia Nursing maintained its #1 rank for the second straight year.

The AAN awards this distinction, its highest honor, annually to a select group of accomplished, visionary nurse leaders. Bakken is Columbia Nursing’s fourth Living Legend.

She received the 2024 Presidential Commendation from the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners for her “dedicated leadership and service that contributed to the success of our community of experts in pediatrics and advocates for children.”
