2024 Awards Highlights

From ranking first in NIH funding among nursing schools for the second year in a row, Suzanne Bakken being named a Living Legend, and three DNP students being named NEF Scholars, we proudly share a selection of honors awarded this year.

Nursing School Tops in NIH Research Funding for FY 2023

With 38 awards totaling nearly $24 million, Columbia Nursing maintained its #1 rank for the second straight year.  

Maureen George Inducted Into Sigma Nursing Hall of Fame

George is Columbia Nursing’s 11th inductee into the Hall of Fame, whose members “embody the collective impact of nursing research on global healthcare,” according to Sigma.  

Meet Columbia Nursing’s 2024 Campbell Award Winner

Ian West, DNP ’24, received the honor, given annually to a graduating student at each Columbia University school.  

Faculty, Alumni Join 2024 AAN Class of Fellows

Five faculty and several alumni were inducted as fellows by the American Academy of Nursing (AAN).   

Bakken Honored as Living Legend

The AAN awards this distinction, its highest honor, annually to a select group of accomplished, visionary nurse leaders. Bakken is Columbia Nursing’s fourth Living Legend.    

NAPNAP Honors McKegney

She received the 2024 Presidential Commendation from the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners for her “dedicated leadership and service that contributed to the success of our community of experts in pediatrics and advocates for children.”    

Three DNP Students Named NEF Scholars

Kelsey Baffour-Addo, MS ’22, Danica Dorlette, MPH, and Keisha S. Paul, MS ’23, received scholarships from Nurses Educational Funds for 2024-2025.    

American Academy of Nursing Honors LINK as Edge Runner

The Linking to Improve Nursing Care and Knowledge Academic-Practice Partnership, a collaboration with NewYork-Presbyterian, is one of six innovative nurse-designed models of care to be honored for reducing cost and improving health care quality while advancing health equity and enhancing consumer satisfaction.    

FNINR Honors Poghosyan

The health services researcher received the 2024 Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research (FNINR) Welch/Woerner Path-Paver Award.  

Kelly Receives Daisy Award
