Columbia Nursing had much to celebrate at the American Academy of Nursing’s 2024 Health Policy conference, held October 31-November 2 in Washington, D.C. The academy honored Professor Suzanne Bakken, PhD, as a Living Legend, recognized Linking to Improve Nursing Care and Knowledge (LINK) with an EdgeRunner award, and inducted five Columbia Nursing faculty and several alumnae into its 2024 Class of Fellows.

Living Legend
Suzanne Bakken, the Alumni Professor of the School of Nursing, currently serves as interim vice dean of strategic and innovative research. An internationally renowned expert in biomedical informatics, she is Columbia Nursing’s fourth Living Legend.
Edge Runner
LINK contributors who shared the EdgeRunner Award, one of six health care models honored by the AAN, include Assistant Professor Allison Norful, PhD '17; Assistant Professor Kasey Jackman, PhD '17, director of academic practice partnerships; Reynaldo Rivera, DNP, director of nursing research and innovation at NewYork-Presbyterian; and Professor Emerita Elaine Larson, PhD.
2024 AAN Fellows
Veronica Barcelona, PhD, assistant professor of nursing; Melissa Beauchemin, PhD ’19, assistant professor of nursing; Ashley Graham-Perel, EdD, director of diversity and cultural affairs and assistant professor of nursing at CUMC; Heidi Hahn-Schroeder, DNP, assistant dean of academic affairs and assistant professor of nursing at CUMC; and Rebecca Owens, DNP, assistant professor of clinical nursing, were welcomed into the American Academy of Nursing's 2024 Class of Fellows.
