DNP Outcomes

DNP students specializing in comprehensive care will demonstrate expertise in the provision, coordination, and direction of comprehensive care to patients, including those who present in healthy states and those who present with complex, chronic, and/or co-morbid conditions, across clinical sites and over time.

Outcome 1

Analyze, translate, integrate and apply best evidence from nursing science and other sciences into clinical practice and patient care, utilizing ethical clinical judgment and diagnostic reasoning.

Outcome 2

Demonstrate the ability to provide and/or evaluate comprehensive care of patients. Evaluate patient’s individual needs based on SDOH, family history, age, developmental stage and individual risk; formulate a comprehensive plan of care utilizing effective communication skills, compassionate care and evidence-based interventions.

Outcome 3

Identify a health risk within a population, incorporating epidemiologic principles and/or environmental factors that contribute to risk/incidence of disease, including prevention and management through collaboration with affected communities, local government entities and others, for the improvement of equitable health outcomes.

Outcome 4

Critically appraise, synthesize, translate, implement and disseminate evidence-based findings for optimal patient outcomes; Critically appraise clinical scholarship through participation in the peer review process.

Outcome 5

Evaluate quality and safety of care against standards using reliable and valid methods and measures and propose innovative, interdisciplinary models that enhance patient safety and quality outcomes.

Outcome 6

Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, patients, families and communities to optimize patient outcomes.

Outcome 7

Participate in innovative and evidence-based strategies to address inequities within the healthcare system, utilizing health policy, ethical considerations and gaps in care and/or reimbursement that impact patient and population outcomes.

Outcome 8

Utilize information technology to gather data, generate information, identify best practices and improve the delivery of care.

Outcome 9

Identify and implement strategies that promote a culture of accountability, civility, equity and inclusion within the practice environment.
